About the Maghreb Banks Union

In pursuance of recommendations made following the two meetings of Maghreb Banks Presidents, Algeriers (october 1988) and Casablanca (November 1989), to set up a body to coordinate action of maghreb banks within efforts made to consolidate the Arab Maghreb Union and its foundations, and with a view to strengthening links between financial institutions and participating actively in realizing decisions and recommendations of the Arab Maghreb Union and, notably, concerning free movement of people, goods and services in maghreb countries as a step in building up the maghreb economic union,

Presidents of Maghreb Banks, who met in Tunis on  6-7 December 1990, decided to set up the Maghreb Banks Union and approved its statutes.

By decree n° 2007-1188 of 14 May 2007, Tunisian Authorities authorised the Maghreb Banks Union to set up in Tunisia and have its registered offices in Tunis.
